Samsung Electronics will be going to ship more than 2 million OLED TVs in 2024

The volume will be similar to the Neo QLED, which is the current top model in Samsung's TV lineup.

As per the source, it is expected that Samsung Electronics shipment of QD-OLED TVs going to increase from 450,000 units this year to 1.3 million units. It is predicted to happen by next year, also increase by more than 2 million units by 2024. However, the volume will be similar to the Neo QLED, which is the current top model in Samsung’s TV lineup. Therefore in this scenario, the company previous strategy regarding its premium models may also going to modify. Whereby, it puts Neo QLED at the top and QD-OLED at the bottom.

Lee Chung-hoon, CEO of market research firm UBI Research, told Dielek, “Samsung Display has raised its quantum dot (QD)-organic light-emitting diode (OLED) production yield to 90% in just over one year of mass production, raising its forecast for QD-OLED TV shipments next year from 1 million to 1.3 million.”

Also, this year, Samsung Electronics Neo QLED TV shipments of 2.5 million units and QD-OLED TVs shipments of 450,000  units. Apart from this premium range TV volumes of 2.95 million units. And the share of QD-OLED is 15% respectively.

“This year, Samsung Electronics has set a goal of shipping 3 million units of the ‘Neo QLED’ series, which is a mini light-emitting diode (LED) TV, but the actual shipment is expected to be 2.5 million units,” Lee said. “If Samsung Electronics ships 1.3 million QD-OLED TVs next year, the total premium TV volume will be 3.8 million,” he explained, “and the proportion of QD-OLED TV will exceed 30%.”

Further more, Lee Chung forecast that “Samsung Electronics” approximation with respect to QD-OLED TVs shipments will be raised. While the figure will exceed 2 million units by 2024.

“If Samsung Electronics plans to ship QD-OLED TVs at the level of 2 million ~ 2.5 million units in 2024, it will be close to a level similar to that of Neo QLED (2.5 million units in 2023),” he said.

Also, it’s the revise Samsung premium TV strategy. While next year, QD-OLED will be under Neo QLED in Samsung’s TV lineup. It indicates that it will secures a place in order to get a same rating in 2024.

“In the global premium TV market, in addition to Samsung Electronics, several companies participate and share the share,” he said, adding, “With Samsung Electronics pushing neo QLED as its main focus, it may be difficult to sell if you buy a lot of QD-OLED panels.” He added, “In the case of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels (required for neo QLED TVs), Samsung Electronics directly conducts the module process to increase sales and operating profits, but in the case of OLED TVs, Samsung Electronics has a problem that the operating profit is eliminated because such a module process is eliminated.”
