Samsung users are prepared for the Nationwide Alert Day on December 8, 2022

This year’s Nationwide Alert day is scheduled for 8 December, a new system will also be tested that sends warnings to smartphones. Till February 2023, Cell Broadcast will help to ensure that citizens can be warned in good time in the event of a disaster.

The company has already made preparations with its partners for Cell Broadcast so that many, even older, Galaxy smartphones will be able to receive the signal. The alert category includes storms, fires or floods, and threats to public safety.

You will be glad to know that, the application uses Cell Broadcast technology, which will be used for the first time at the nationwide alert day on 8 December 2022. On this day, all so-called warning devices will be tested throughout Germany, including sirens, radio, television, digital city display boards and well-known warning apps.

According to the information, Cell Broadcast enables all mobile users with a compatible smartphone to be alerted in an area. No registration is necessary. No data is transferred from smartphones. Since the devices are only passive receivers, the technology is therefore data protection compliant.

In order for a smartphone to receive a message via Cell Broadcast, its operating system must be able to receive it. On all Galaxy smartphones running Android 11 and later, the emergency notification feature is enabled by default.
