Samsung Electronics: Exclusion of panel maker BOE while Sunny Optical is added in Supplier list

This list was released this year while Sunny optical was added to the same. Japan's Alps, Nitto Denko, and ROHM were excluded.

Recently, it is confirmed that China’s BOE was omitted from Samsung Electronics’ supplier list (2022). This list was released this year while Sunny optical was added to the same. In addition to the info, Japan’s Alps, Nitto Denko, and ROHM were excluded. On the other hand, Samsung Electronics’ subsidiary SEMES, also Samsung Group’s “banggye” company Hansol Technics, KH Vatech, and Simtek were newly named.

Additionally, the list of suppliers disclosed by Samsung Electronics for sustainability management. If it accepts among its suppliers, Samsung Electronics will release the list. And the same account for 80% of the component purchase amount. Although, it may not be included in the list at the request of its partner or Samsung Electronics purchasing team, or at its own discretion. Simultaneously, it also is verified or confirmed by a third-party verification body which is Responsible Business Alliance (RBA).

Among all the suppliers, Samsung Electronics’ component purchase is responsible for a significant amount. Also, if there’s no such problem in the company’s management, then it can be included in the supplier list as well. Subsequently, what stands out from this year’s list is the exclusion of panel maker BOE. And in place of its inclusion of camera module manufacturer Sunny Optical.

Additionally, Japanese companies Alps, Nitto Denko, and ROHM were also failing to come to the list of Samsung Electronics’ supplier. While its subsidiary SEMES and Samsung Group’s spin-based company Hansol Technics were included this time. Notably, these two companies had a large share of Samsung Electronics’ sales in the past. On the other hand, KHVATECH, which is a good hand in the foldable phone hinge company, and Simtek, a semiconductor substrate company, were also added to the list of suppliers this year. While, Zahwa Electronics, which has been placed in Apple’s supply chain, that also come in this year’s list of Samsung Electronics’ suppliers respectively.
