Samsung AI Forum 2022 unveil the insight of AI to encourage the use of latest technology

It includes world-renowned academics, researchers from Samsung Electronics, and industry experts.

Samsung AI Forum 2022 is going to commence soon, and the event will be attended by various dignities. It includes world-renowned academics, researchers from Samsung Electronics, and industry experts. In order to share their experience and insight into the future of artificial intelligence respectively.

Notably, this is the sixth year of the Samsung AI Forum, and this year it is scheduled from November 8 to 9 (KST). While this is the first time in three years that the event will be held in person. It is expected that the event will be attended by nearly 1200 attendees. Also, this worldwide forum brings a packed program which is hosted by Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) on November 8 and Samsung Research2 on November 9.

Viewers can also watch and attend the event through the live platform as this event will also be live-streamed on Samsung Electronics’ YouTube channel.

Day One: Shaping the Future with AI and Semiconductors

The event will be scheduled for two days, Out of which Day 1 is dedicated to the theme of “Shaping the Future with AI and Semiconductor.” Whereby AI gathered to discuss the future direction of AI research intended to create a new milestone. Especially in AI-based semiconductor and material innovation.

The day started with opening remarks by Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “I expect that AI technology will provide better convenience and new experiences for all while it also lays the foundation for other key innovations to various fields and applications, including next-generation semiconductors,” said Han.

At this event, Professor Yoshua Bengio belongs to the University of Montreal, Canada, going to share his latest research in a keynote presentation. “Why We Need Amortized, Causal and Bayesian World Models.” He emphasized and encourage the use of amortized inference and the Bayesian approach in causal models for AI.

Later on, in this event, technology sessions, such as “AI for R&D Innovation,” “Recent Advances of AI Algorithms” and “Large Scale Computing for AI and HPC” were delivered.

In the “AI for R&D Innovation” session, research leaders at SAIT, including the Executive Vice President and Head of SAIT’s AI Research Center, Changkyu Choi, shared the status and vision of Samsung’s research on AI.

While in a session, whose topic is “Recent Advances of AI Algorithms,” Minjoon Seo, a professor at KAIST, and Hyunoh Song, a professor at Seoul National University. They will give a presentation on the latest research achievements in AI algorithms.

At last, there is a session called “Large Scale Computing for AI and HPC.” Whereby, the leading researchers on supercomputers, include the former IBM and Intel Fellow, Alan Gara. Here they discussed the role of AI in the future of high-performance computing.

Day Two: Scaling AI for the Real World

Coming to Day Two, which is dedicated to the theme of “Scaling AI for the Real World.” And it is hosted by Samsung Research for sharing the development direction of future AI technologies. The techs which have an impact on our lives include hyperscale AI, digital humans, robotics, etc. The topics that are very trending these days.

Moving ahead, Sebastian Seung, President, and Head of Samsung Research. He will give a keynote on the “first steps of an effort to improve upon classical brain theories by optimizing biologically plausible unsupervised learning algorithms” alongside with welcoming remark.

The further event is followed by the presentation on the “Current Status of AI Research by Samsung Research” presented by Daniel D. Lee. He is the Executive Vice President and Head of the Global AI Center at Samsung Research. Several other dignities also gave presentations and it including AI experts, including the heads of global research centers.

Professor Terrence Sejnowski at the University of California San Diego, U.S. He is one who found NeurIPS, the world’s most prestigious AI conference. It will be scheduled to discuss the intelligence of hyperscale language models based on experimental case testing. To analyze whether hyper-scale language models have intelligence.

The rest of the event will be followed by an introduction to next-generation AI research. That basically gives direction for ensuring the responsible and fair use of hyperscale AI in the products and services of businesses. And the same will be presented by Dr. Johannes Gehrke, Head of Microsoft Research Lab.

Coming next, is Professor Dieter Fox at the University of Washington, U.S. Who is also the Senior Director of Robotics Research at NVIDIA. It will also be going to explain how a robot can directly operate unlearned objects only based on visual data without creating 3D models.

Windup of the Event

Lastly, Seungwon Hwang, a professor at Seoul National University. He will discuss the ways to use causality, evidentiality, and other forms of knowledge to further strengthen hyperscale language models.

Also, there will be two live panel discussions judged by EVP Daniel Lee. Whereby panelists discuss several topics. In this conference event, there will also be lighting Talk sessions. And in the same researchers at the Global AI Center will give presentations to elaborate on their current research.
