Samsung hit new 5G milestones in Australia: Speeds of 1.75Gbps at a distance of 10km

Downlink speeds of 1.75Gbps and uplink speeds of 61.5Mbps

On November 07, 2022, Samsung Electronics announced that the company hit new milestones in Australia, yes and you will be glad to know that it achieved 10km (6.2 miles) long-range transmission over 5G mmWave in a recent field trial conducted with NBN Co. In sum, 28GHz 5G mmWave Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) connection was recorded by Samsung.

During the testing, in 10km, the company achieved downlink speeds of 1.75Gbps and uplink speeds of 61.5Mbps. “The results of these trials with Samsung are a significant milestone and demonstrate how we are pushing the boundaries of innovation in support of the digital capabilities in Australia,” said Ray Owen, Chief Technology Officer at NBN Co.

As part of an AUD $750 million investment in the nbn Fixed Wireless network (made up of AUD $480 million from the Australian Governent and supported by an additional AUD $270 million from nbn).
