Samsung holds the 54th Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders

Samsung Electronics has officially announced the ’54th Extraordinary General Shareholders’ Meeting’ on the November 3rd at the Seo Natural Water Institute, Samsung Electronics Human Resource Development Center, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, attended by shareholders, institutional investors, CEO and Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee, and President Byeon Kyung-hyun.

Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of the company, said in a greeting, “As two independent directors resigned and retired in April and May, we are holding an extraordinary general shareholders’ meeting to appoint two new independent directors.”

Vice Chairman Han said, “We will appoint new independent directors early through the extraordinary general shareholders’ meeting to meet the requirements of the majority of the total number of directors of independent directors and to continue to maintain the independence and professionalism of the board of directors.”

Despite the COVID-19 situation, Samsung Electronics streamed the general shareholders’ meeting online for shareholders. Since 2020, the South Korean tech giant has introduced an electronic voting system, and electronic voting, which allows shareholders to exercise their voting rights online, was held from October 24 to November 2, 2022.
