Samsung Display purchased 42 US patents from Fujifilm

According to the information, after purchasing OLED device patents from Cynorra, Germany in May now the South Korean tech giant, Samsung purchased 42 US patents from Fujifilm, Japan. The patent is related to the oxide (oxide) thin film transistors (TFTs).

As per the description, the Oxide TFT is basically used in 8th-generation large-scale quantum dot (QD)-organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels among Samsung Display products.

For your information, the oxide TFTs will be used for 8th-generation mid-size OLEDs for IT products, which Samsung Display is looking to invest in.

Meanwhile, the Low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) or low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) TFT technology used in 6th-generation OLEDs has not yet been developed for the 8th generation.

To recall, Samsung Display earlier purchased 85 US patents from Cynorra, a German blue OLED device maker, in May. Now, the company is looking to add 1500~2000 US patents to its portfolio.

Also, in H1 2022, Samsung withdrew from the liquid crystal display (LCD) business and sold its LCD patents to CSOT in China. At this time, there were 577 US LCD patents transferred to CSOT.
