Samsung officially investigating swelling batteries in Galaxy phones

Recently, YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss (Arun Maini,) shared a video that several Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphones have started swelling up. He owned many smartphones, but only the Samsung handsets exhibited the problem.

On the concern, Samsung confirmed to The Verge that it was aware of it and according to comments made by Samsung spokesman Chris Langlois said that the company is looking into “further technical evaluation”. We encourage customers who have questions about Samsung devices to contact their local customer service representatives,” he said.

Samsung Phone Batteries are Swelling Up

Arthur Shi, the senior technical writer at iFixit, also mentioned that swelling occurs when the electrolyte material in a battery (usually a liquid) begins to break down and then turns into a gas.

Shi also note that iFixit saw plenty of swollen batteries across lots of phones. And, it may need a lot of work to identify why it keeps happening to Samsung phones. He also said that people should absolutely not charge phones with batteries that start swelling. If you do that, the electrolytes will break down even more.
