OLED equipment investment falling down

A well-established Organic light-emitting diode (OLED or organic LED) falls down on the job, the soothsayer aforenamed that next year’s large OLED equipment investment will be ‘zero’.

The investment continues to lack to meet the possibilities of large OLEDs, follows in the second year, and this year. Inkjet printing OLED is expected to lead to large OLED investment in the coming years 2024 and 2025.

A market research DSCC added the prediction on the 23rd’s context 23rd. The very next year’s large OLED equipment investment that is based on import would be zero. OLED refers to the large screen product that’s suited more for TVs and monitors. While already examining examples like LG Display’s white (W)-OLED and Samsung Display’s quantum dot (QD)-OLED are some such.

Expected Investment made on the large OLED equipment

Expectation says that there will be no large OLED equipment investment next year, and it will increase to $2.011 billion in 2024, the level of 2020, and then decrease again to $1.51 billion in 2025. Investment in large OLED equipment by year decreased from $3 billion in 2019 to $2.049 billion in 2020, followed by a sharp decline to $147 million last year and $142 million this year.

In the large OLED investment in 2024, inkjet printing OLED is expected to account for 76% of the total (2,011 million) with $1.519 billion. And inkjet printing OLED is expected to reach 100% of the total by 2025. Inkjet printing OLED refers to the T8 project of CSOT in China.

LG Display’s annual W-OLED investment is expected to be $2.366 billion in 2019 and $94 million in 2020. And $95 million in 2021, $124 million in 2022, and $492 million in 2024. . The forecast for 2023 and 2025 is zero. Samsung Display’s annual investment in QD-OLED was $107 million in 2019, $1.936 billion in 2020, and $19 million in 2021 respectively. No investment is expected between 2022 and 2025.

Samsung Display would increase the production of QD-OLED

According to the DSCC, Samsung Display would increase the production of QD-OLED to meet the process. They enhance the QD-OLED backplane process and reduce the layer by applying blue phosphorescent OLED material. At the end of the year, Samsung subsidiary company Samsung Display planned to increase its Q1 production capacity by 30 % 30,000 (30K) per month based on the input of 8.5G glass discs.

OLED news Samsung

Lately, the QD-OLED light emitting layer consists of 4 layers. Three layers of blue fluorescent material. Currently, the QD-OLED light emitting layer consists of 4 layers including 3 layers of blue fluorescent material. And 1 layer of green phosphorescent material, which means that more than 1 layer will be reduced.

While on the other side, the CSOTs T8 project, inkjet printing OLED equipment investment, is expected to record $1.519 billion in 2024. And $ 1.51 billion in 2025, leading to a large OLED investment. For the T8 project, the equipment order is delayed by several months.

Therefore, Large OLED investment is being forecasted from 2022 to the next three years till the year 2025. One of three proportionate, OLED is the largest at 53%, next is QD-OLED at 33%, and followed by W-OLED at 14%.

There are several complications even I go through while making embroidery on the fabric a matter of fact above. Here, the biggest proportion shared in the contribution of the OLED equipment investment by the inkjet printing OLED makes latecomers with a small production capacity.
