Samsung Electro-Mechanics ranked 14th worldwide in PCB sales last year

While coming to its domestic Printed Circuit Board (PCB) makers rank then it is on highest

Talking about Samsung Electro-Mechanics ranked in terms of global sales of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) then it comes at 14th place. This is the global PCB company sales ranking for last year. While coming to its domestic PCB makers rank then it is the highest. In addition to this info, Domestic PCB makers are included in the world’s top 30 manufacturers that comprise Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Youngpoong Group, LG Innotek, Simmtech, BH, and Daeduck Electronics respectively.

As per market reach company, NTI of the printed circuit board (PCB).  Who claims that Taiwan’s Jeonding (US$5.69 billion) and Unimicron (US$3.783 billion) ranked first and second respectively. This is the global PCB sales ranking for last year. Moving further Jeonding specializes in flexible circuit boards (FPCBs) and semiconductor substrates. On the other hand, Unimicron specializes in semiconductor substrates. Last year’s sales growth was 18.1% and 19.0%, respectively.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics, touches $1.669 billion in sales in the PCB business last year, among all Korean companies. Out of the $1.669 billion, $1 billion came from the operations unit of Vietnam. Samsung Electro-Mechanics is mainly focused on semiconductor substrates.

While it ranked 10th in the global PCB sales ranking in 2020 but reaches 14th last year. One of the reasons is the withdrawal from the RFPCB business. Which subsequently makes focusing on high-value-added products, seem to have had an impact. Last year, the top 30 companies in the PCB business grew by 20.4% on averagely.  Whereas Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ PCB sales increased by only 7.6% during that period.

Other Competitor rankings

Coming next, then Youngpoong Group ranked 17th in the world. While it is the second highest among domestic companies. Its last year sales were $1.487 billion, which is 18.7%  up from the previous year. The Youngpoong Group includes Korea Circuit. The company specializes in HDI and semiconductor substrates, and Youngpoong Electronics specializes in FPCB, and Interflex respectively.

LG Innotek ranked 19th having last year’s sales of $1.382 billion. While LG Innotek also withdrew from the HDI business in 2019 and is currently concentrating only on semiconductor substrates. Considering the booming of the semiconductor substrate industry, LG Innotek’s PCB sales grew 26.2% last year as compared to the previous year’s sales.

On the other hand, Simmtech, whose main business is semiconductor substrates, reached $1.2 billion in last year’s sales and is ranking 23rd. Its Sales growth was 11.8%. While the sales of FPCB company BH which is increased by 43.8%  last year as compared to the previous year which is $913 million. As Samsung Electro-Mechanics withdrew from the RFPCB business, as a result of which BH supplies to Apple increased. Daeduck Electronics, which specializes in semiconductor substrates, recorded sales of $881 million last year, and it is up by 8.1%.

Additionally, SIplex ranked 57th with $425 million, and Isupetasis came in 59th with $413 million in sales. Stemco ranked 65th with $330 million, DP with $267 million, and 74th place in the list. Haesung DS 98th with $169 million, Hyeonwoo Industry 105th with $162 million respectively.
