Rollable phones are the future of the tech era. Currently, we are early at the rumor stages but now Ross Young, display market analyst with DSCC has confirmed some core details of the upcoming 2023 rollable and foldable phones.

According to the DSCC, there are a total of 23 different foldable smartphones shipping in 2023 along with the world’s first rollable smartphone.
The first rollable smartphone is said to be launched by a Chinese brand with a Korean panel. There are at least 7 foldable notebooks shipping in 2023.
There is a single Chinese smartphone brand that is expected to launch four different foldable smartphones in 2023.
There will be a new size in a foldable market, 8.03” along with 6.7”, 7.11”, and 7.55”. The 8.03” display is representative of the Vivo X Fold. The CPI vs. UTG battle will continue in China.

As per the latest DSCC report, the 2022 foldable smartphone panel shipments by 12% to 17.7M panels, which represents a 77% increase vs. 10.0M in 2021.
For 2023, there will be 34% growth in foldable/rollable smartphone panels to 23.7M, down 17% vs. our previous forecast but up 34% vs. our latest 2022 forecast.
