Samsung will no longer be going to release official updates for the Galaxy Note 9

Reportedly, Samsung will no longer be going to release official updates for the Galaxy Note 9. Moving further with recent update info, the Galaxy Note 10 will now get the security patch per quarter while earlier it was per month. Whereas the Galaxy Tab S7 + will now get the update biannual.

Galaxy Note 9: No more updates

Notably, it very clearly indicated at the time when the Galaxy Note 9 received the July update. This has been revealed and hinted recently a few weeks ago while the last official update for the device. To bring into highlight, Note 9 appeared in August 2018, more than four years ago by now. This no-update info is already predicted by many of us before its official announcement by Samsung.

And to continue with the process, the company now remove the device from the list of phones that are supported last night. In this way, this brings an end to the era where this device was updated quarterly. Whereas it gets the monthly updates in its first three years period which would be expired earlier.

Although, it’s quite uncertain to say that the Galaxy Note 9 will not get any updates further in the future. As Samsung is currently rolling out a GPS update to a large number of older devices. However, the Note 9 would already get this fix done. While it’s certainly possible that the device will receive some kind of update in the coming months. Although, we can’t count it in the category of official updates from now.

Galaxy Note 10: Quarterly updates

In addition to the upgrade degradation of Note 9 from Samsung’s update list, Note 10 makes a leap. Whereby it takes a jump from the list of devices that are updated monthly to the list where it only receives an update every quarter.

It is worth mentioning here that these changes are also completely according to the plan. The Note 10 and Note 10+ appeared more than three years ago. Therefore, as per the numbers, the three years of period is coming to an end. And from now onwards the phone is only receiving the latest security patches every quarter for at least another year. It is estimated that it will continue to receive the quarter update till August or September 2023.

Whereas, talking about the Note 10 Lite will still get monthly updates for time being. As the device appeared at the beginning of 2020. And the same will get the monthly patches at least at the start of 2023.

And as per current changes, the Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, and Note 10 Lite are the only true Note phones that still continue to get their monthly updates.

Galaxy Tab S7+ updates every six months

Coming to the case of the Galaxy Tab S7+ then this one also got a shuffle. As it belongs to the category of devices that get an update every quarter. Now it’s among the devices that will be going to receive the update every six months. While strangely enough, the Tab S7 is still on the list of quarterly updates.

In addition, with the above info, the Galaxy Tab S7 series is presently getting the committed upgrade to One UI 4.1.1. And it includes the new taskbar as well as better multitasking options.
