IFA 2022: Samsung SmartThings Energy

IFA 2022 is ready to kick off on September 02, 2022, in Berlin, Germany. Despite the pandemic previous IFA tech events are canceled and the year 2022 brings good news for all tech enthusiasts worldwide.

At IFA 2022 many companies are ready to announce some big changes such as LG and Samsung, Lenovo, Huawei and more.

From the Samsung perspective, Jae Seung Lee, Head of Digital Appliances at Samsung Electronics revealed that the company is focused on sustainability and energy efficiency in its future products.

He revealed three key steps which will make Samsung “the No. 1 energy efficiency brand in home appliances.

  1. The ambitious goal is to implement Wi-Fi connectivity
  2. Samsung is partnering with Patagonia
  3. Home to get own energy and looking to reduce carbon emissions

According to Samsung, SmartThings Energy will play a major role in the networked home in the future. SmartThings Energy provides recommendations for cost-saving use of the devices based on individual habits. Samsung is also working with Qcells on a solution for the effective use of renewable energy sources. After launching in South Korea, the US and the UK, Samsung announces the launch for the German market, where SmartThings Energy is available immediately.

Through the SmartThings app, SmartThings Energy let you be aware of regular information about where and to what extent energy is consumed by networked devices in the house.

In the future, most houses will use the sun’s energy to generate electricity. As per the latest Federal Statistical Office information, in March 2022, 2.2 million photovoltaic systems with a total rated output of 58,400 megawatts were installed in Germany.
