But how? Let’s check quick stats

Back in 2021, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 shipments recorded 2.6% of Samsung’s total shipments (271.5 million units).

By the end of 2022, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 shipments are expected to reach 9 million.

As per the latest IDC report, in 2021, the folding smartphone market has increased by 261% and we will see rapid growth by 2025. Meanwhile, Samsung is the king, and last year it held a market share of 93%. Unfortunately, in the sub-segment, the market share has dropped by 3 percentage points in a year (17%), while Apple has grown 5%.

What about the other companies?

According to the latest Korea Herald data, Samsung shipped 7.1 million Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in 2021. And the dominant position on the world market is due to the fact that the other manufacturers who have ventured into this new form factor have so far focused mainly on the Chinese domestic market – the recently launched Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is also in the race but Oppo Find N will be there for a change.
