Report: Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 target shipments of 2 million units and 8 million units

To be released in the second half of next year (H2 2023)

Samsung is preparing the upcoming foldable models Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Ahead of these phones’ arrival the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are already circulating.

According to the report from the most Korean trusted source, theelec, Samsung Electronics decided a shipment target for the next-generation foldable phone, which is set to be released next year, the big agenda of this news is that the company is planning to ship less phones as per the previous models (Z Fold and Flip 4).

Samsung Electronics recently set a target shipment of 10 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 to be released in the second half of next year.

The target shipments for each model are 2 million units for the Z Fold 5 and 8 million units for the Z Flip 5. However, it is known that the specific development verification and mass production timing of the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are still being coordinated.

The devices are said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (code name SM8550) for both Z Fold 5 and Z Flip, but once again we are not sure about SoC information yet, hope we will hear something new after the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 camera capabilities are still unknown. Samsung Electronics has recently raised its target shipments for the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, which will be released in the third quarter of this year, from 10 million units to 15 million units. This is more than double the shipment of 7.1 million units of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 released last year.  According to market research firm Canalys, the foldable phone market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 122% from 2019 to 2024.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 appears on FCC certification

Recently, the Samsung Galaxy device with model number SM-F936U which is claimed to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has cleared the FCC certification process and it is confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will come with Qualcomm’s Gen 2 smart transit feature and have support for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected to come with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution. It will have a 120Hz refresh rate support. There will be a 12MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide snapper. And for the selfie purpose, it will have a 10MP lens.

As per the core specifications, the device will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset as opposed to the Snapdragon 888 SoC. The 5G will come an 8GB of RAM and have 128GB/256GB internal storage options. The phone will pack a 3,700mAh battery with support for 25W wired and 10W wireless fast charging support.

On the other side, the Z Fold 4 variant will launch with a 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate support, and 6.2 inches secondary screen.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with 12GB/16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of internal storage. We are eagerly waiting for the One UI 5 so hopefully, we will see One UI 5 versions based on Android. The device will pack a 4,400mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging technology.
