In the month of starting March 2022, we are getting much interesting news related to the Korean giant Samsung. Now, on March 3rd, the company has announced that Qualcomm Technologies has verified Samsung’s 14nm 16Gb low-power double data rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM for use in Qualcomm Technologies Snapdragon (Snapdragon 5X) DRAM mobile platform.

As per history, Samsung’s first 14nm-based LPDDR5X DRAM was developed in November last year, Samsung has partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to optimize 7.5 gigabits per second (Gbps) LPDDR5X for the Snapdragon mobile platform.

Samsung said that the speed of LPDDR5X is about 1.2 times that of LPDDR5 (6.4Gbps) on current high-end smartphones, and is expected to improve ultra-high-resolution video recording performance and artificial intelligence such as speech recognition, image recognition, and natural language processing on next-generation smartphones.

In addition, through the use of advanced circuit design and dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, DVFS), the power consumption of LPDDR5X can be reduced by about 20%.
